Before you begin: understanding lyophilised peptides

The lyophilised puck in your vial has been freeze-dried to preserve bioactivity. When you first look into the vial, the peptide will appear as a white, solid disc or powder at the base. Do not mistake an apparently empty vial for a short-filled one — after freeze-drying, 5 mg of peptide occupies very little physical space.

Correct reconstitution involves adding the solvent gently so that it dissolves the peptide without mechanical denaturation. Vigorous shaking should always be avoided.

Required materials

Equalising vial pressure

Before adding solvent, insert a needle into the BPC-157 vial to equalise pressure. You may experience one of three responses:

  • The syringe draws air inward — the vial was under vacuum, now equalised.
  • Air is expelled from the vial — the vial had positive pressure, now equalised.
  • No movement — pressure was already equal.

This step prevents the solvent from being forcefully expelled into the vial or spraying inside the syringe.

Adding the bacteriostatic water

For a 5 mg vial, adding 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives a clean concentration of 2.5 mg/ml (2,500 mcg/ml). Draw up your desired volume using the syringe, insert at a 45° angle, and allow the liquid to run slowly down the inside wall of the vial. Do not inject directly onto the lyophilised puck.
