Unofficial Peptide Sellers: A Cautionary Note for UK Researchers

A guide to recognising unofficial sellers and protecting your research from substandard or counterfeit peptide products.

A cautionary note for UK researchers

The peptide research market in the UK has grown considerably in recent years. Unfortunately, that growth has attracted a number of unofficial and low-quality sellers — some of whom deliberately trade on the reputation of established UK suppliers, using similar branding, website names, and product descriptions.

This post aims to help researchers identify unofficial sellers and understand the risks of purchasing from them.

Warning signs of an unofficial seller

  • No certificate of analysis (CoA). Every reputable supplier provides batch-specific CoAs showing purity, sequence confirmation, and testing methodology. If a seller cannot provide a CoA on request, treat this as a serious red flag.
  • Pre-mixed liquid peptides. Legitimate research peptides are supplied lyophilised (freeze-dried) to preserve stability. Pre-mixed liquid formulations cannot be verified and are almost certainly degraded by the time they arrive.
  • Prices that seem too low. High-purity peptide synthesis is a technically complex process. Prices far below market rates typically indicate lower purity, shorter chain verification, or counterfeit material.
  • Social media only presence. Sellers operating exclusively through Telegram, Instagram, or WhatsApp have no accountability. There is no verifiable address, no regulated returns process, and no recourse if product is poor quality.
  • Misleading branding. Some sellers deliberately use names, logos, or domain names that closely resemble established suppliers. Always double-check you are on the correct domain.

What to expect from a reputable supplier

At My UK Peptides, every batch is produced under controlled conditions, with full traceability from synthesis to dispatch. Our peptides are supplied lyophilised in sealed vials, accompanied by a CoA, and dispatched using cold-chain packaging. We operate exclusively through myukpeptides.com — we do not sell through any marketplace or social platform.

Important: If you have received product that you believe may be counterfeit or mislabelled, do not use it. Contact the supplier for clarification, and if you have concerns about research integrity, consult your institution's guidelines.
